Increased security measures are in operation at US airports. If an item is lost on a plane, an airline terminal or left on the curbside with a tag on it then it will be returned to the airline. Passengers should contact the airline in this eventuality.
For other locations, passengers should contact the Port Authority Police and for items lost at a TSA checkpoint they should get contact the TSA Lost and Found.
